ISSABELPBX, es un software de codigo abierto (Open Source) de Telefonia IP y Comunicaciones Unificadas basado en Asterisk, utilizado para montar servidores de Comunicaciones Telefonicas y Unificadas, que incluye: PBX IP, correo electrónico, mensajeria instantanea, fax, funciones colaborativas, etc. El objetivo de ISSABEL es el de incorporar en una unica solucion todos los medios y alternativas de comunicacion existentes en el ambito empresarial.
Issabel es un proyecto basado en software libre que nació como fork (bifurcación) de su antecesor Elastix, con el objetivo de dar continuidad a las plataformas instaladas y, de esta forma, ofrecer una alternativa a la comunidad de código abierto.
Cuenta con una interfaz Web e incluye muchas funcionalidades como un software de centro de llamadas (CallCenter) con marcacion automatica, progresiva-predictiva, una serie de aplicaciones telefonicas y de colaboracion que se pueden incorporar facilmente en el camino. Nace de la migracion de usuarios de Elastix al momento de ser adquirida por 3CX y reemplazar todo el desarrollo de la comunidad con su software propietario. La comunidad Elastix migra a un nuevo proyecto y es asi como el 9 de diciembre del 2016 nace Issabel el cual dara seguimiento al proyecto dentro de una comunidad OpenSource que evoluciona.
La funcionalidad de ISSABELPBX esta basada en proyectos libres como Elastix, Asterisk, FreePBX, HylaFAX, Openfire, Postfix, entre otros. Estos paquetes ofrecen las funciones de PBX, fax, mensajeria instananea y correo, respectivamente.
ISSABEL es Software Libre y está liberado bajo la Licencia pública general de GNU.
Actualmente ISSABEL soporta 2 arquitecturas.

ISSABEL corre sobre una plataforma de Linux con Asterisk y utiliza otros paquetes que son administrados facilmente a traves de una interfaz de usuario Web. La distribucion de Linux sobre la cual corre ISSABEL se basa en CentOS, que tiene compatibilidad binaria con Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
ISSABEL soporta la mayor parte de hardware de telefonia existente que es soportado o fabricado para Asterisk, tambien es compatible con muchas marcas de telefonos gracias a los protocolos SIP y IAX2 que implementa Asterisk. El protocolo SIP es actualmente un estandar utilizado por la mayoria de los fabricantes de telefonos IP y su funcionamiento es nativo para voz sobre IP (VoIP), independientemente de alguna funcionalidad adicional que estos tengan.
